In 2013, Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight set out to crochet 120 poppies to “plant” at the Shrine of Remembrance for Remembrance Day. As momentum and support grew for this movement the 5000 Poppies Project was born, soon becoming a worldwide community tribute of respect and remembrance in honour of our service men and women, past and present, their families and their communities.The result was overwhelming, with the creation of over half a million stunning handmade poppies, and a series of major tribute installations in Australia and Europe, which have been seen by more than 60 million people worldwide.”
